A glass door wardrobe keeps the light, open look of an open wardrobe while keeping dust off your clothes. The finish decides how much you see: clear glass shows everything, tinted glass mutes it, and frosted or fluted finishes blur it. Our glass doors use 5 mm glass, with tempered glass available, on every wardrobe system we make.

Which glass finish shows what
The real choice is not just transparent or opaque. It is how much of the inside you want on show every day, and how tidy you will keep it.
| Finish | What you see through it | Suits | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Clear | Everything | Display shelves, bags, a walk-in you keep tidy | Shows every untidy shelf; fingerprints near the handle |
| Frosted | Soft light, no detail | Most bedrooms: bright, but hides clutter | Choose it if you're unsure |
| Tinted grey, black or brown | Shapes and colours, muted; black is the darkest | A wardrobe facing the bed; darker or warmer colour schemes | Looks like a dark panel at night without a light inside |
| Tinted with frosted finish | Colour only, no detail | Privacy with a darker, richer look | Less light passes through than plain frosted |
| Opaque | Nothing | Full privacy with a glass surface | Loses the see-through effect entirely |
| Fluted | Blurred vertical lines | Texture and privacy together; a popular choice now | See the two fluted options below |
| Mirror: clear, grey or tea | Your reflection and the room | Small rooms: the door doubles as a full-length mirror; tea mirror gives a warm bronze tone | Shows smudges like any mirror |
Two ways to get the fluted look
- Reeded glass: the grooves are in the glass itself, so the texture is real to the touch. Dust can settle in the grooves, so a soft brush helps when cleaning.
- Fluted finish on flat glass: the fluted pattern sits behind a flat glass front. It gives the same look, and the front wipes clean like ordinary glass. It also comes in tinted colours.
Sliding, bifold or swing
- Sliding (top and bottom track): saves floor space. A swing door needs clear floor in front of it as wide as the door itself; a sliding door needs none. In most HDB bedrooms, where the bed sits close to the wardrobe, sliding is the practical choice. Our sliding doors use a reinforced aluminium frame with a stopper system, up to 2,800 mm high.
- Bifold, aluminium frame: folds back to open most of the width at once, with less swing space than a full door. It hangs from the top on a bottomless track, so there's no floor track to clean, and closes softly.
- Swing, aluminium frame: opens the full door at once. It suits walk-ins and rooms with space in front of the wardrobe.
- Wooden frame with a glass insert (bifold or swing): a warmer look that matches wood carpentry elsewhere in the room.
Our HausGlide folding-sliding door comes in solid wood only, so it isn't available with glass.
Mix glass with other panels in one door
A sliding or aluminium bifold door doesn't have to be one sheet of glass. It can be split into sections, each in a different finish: frosted, tinted, mirror, laminate or a custom colour. A common choice is glass at eye level with a solid panel lower down, where shoes and bags sit. These are the six layouts, shown on a 2,400 mm door.
Before you choose
- Plan the lighting with the glass. Tinted glass looks like a dark panel at night unless there's a light inside. A sensor LED strip switches on when the door opens.
- Glass and aluminium don't swell in humidity. Unlike a wooden door, an aluminium-framed glass door keeps its shape and alignment in Singapore's climate.
- Fingerprints gather at the handle line, not across the whole door. A full-length or recessed handle keeps hands off the glass.
- Think about who's in the room. For children's rooms, choose tempered glass.
When glass doors are the wrong choice
- You rarely tidy the inside. Clear and light-tinted glass will show it. Choose frosted, fluted or opaque glass, or solid laminate doors.
- You want a folding-sliding HausGlide door. It comes in solid wood only.
- The wardrobe sits where it gets bumped often, such as beside a play area. If you still want glass, choose tempered.
Caring for glass wardrobe doors
- Wipe the glass with a microfibre cloth and glass cleaner. Wipe aluminium frames with mild detergent, then dry.
- On reeded glass, run a soft brush along the grooves before wiping.
- Keep sliding tracks free of dust so the doors run smoothly and quietly.
Frequently asked questions
Does a glass wardrobe make a small room look bigger?
Yes, compared with a solid door of the same size. Clear, frosted and fluted glass let light through, and a mirror door reflects the room. A mirror door also saves the wall space a separate full-length mirror would take.
Is glass safe for wardrobe doors?
Our wardrobe doors use 5 mm glass, and tempered glass is available. We recommend tempered glass for children's rooms and anywhere the door may get knocked.
Is fluted glass the same as reeded glass?
Yes, both names describe glass with vertical grooves that blur what's behind it. We offer it two ways: reeded glass with the grooves in the glass itself, or a fluted finish behind a flat glass front that wipes clean like ordinary glass.
Can I add glass doors to a HausPole or HausFlex wardrobe later?
Yes. HausPole and HausFlex are designed so doors can be added after installation without rebuilding the wardrobe, and glass doors are one of the standard options.
Can HausGlide doors have glass?
No. HausGlide folding-sliding doors are made in solid wood only. For glass in a tight room, an aluminium-framed bifold door is the closest option.
How much does a glass door wardrobe cost?
It depends on the glass finish, the frame, the panel layout and the door type. Send us your wall measurements or floor plan on WhatsApp and we'll reply with a price range within 24 hours.
